TRUNGNAM GROUP OFFICIALLY BECOMES THE INVESTOR FOR THE 1,500MW CA NA LNG POWER PROJECT

Technology news

On January 28, 2026, the People’s Committee of Khanh Hoa Province issued Decision No. 339/QD-UBND approving the selection results for the investor of the Ca Na LNG Power Plant Project. Accordingly, the Trung Nam – Sideros River Joint Venture has officially become the investor of this key energy project, with a total investment capital exceeding 57,000 billion VND.

A New Landmark on the National Energy Map

According to the approval Decision, the Ca Na LNG Power Plant Project is located in Ca Na Commune, with the objective of developing one of the most modern energy complexes in the South Central Region. The project covers a total land and water surface area of approximately 265.7 hectares, comprising the following primary components:

  • Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Power Plant: Capacity of 1,500 MW.
  • LNG Terminal and Regasification System: Throughput capacity of 1.0 – 1.2 million tonnes/year, equipped with a storage tank capacity of 220,000 m³.
  • Seaport Infrastructure System: Includes a 2,400m-long breakwater and a dedicated LNG receiving jetty.

With a total execution cost reaching 57,384.78 billion VND, this is one of the largest energy infrastructure projects approved for investment during the 2025–2030 period.

As a leading renewable energy and infrastructure corporation in Vietnam, Trungnam Group (through the joint venture) commits to concentrating maximum financial resources, equipment, and workforce to execute the project.

According to the awarded decision, the proposed electricity tariff is 3,294.22 VND/kWh. The investor commits to completing construction and commissioning the project for commercial operation (COD) prior to December 31, 2030.

Winning the bid for the Ca Na LNG project further extends the track record of success and affirms Trungnam Group’s position in the energy sector. Previously, the Group made significant marks with a series of large-scale projects, contributing billions of kWh to the national grid, notably:

  • Ea Nam Wind Power Project (Dak Lak): The largest onshore wind power plant in Vietnam with a capacity of 400MW.
  • Trung Nam Thuan Nam 450MW Solar Power Project: A landmark project combining a 500kV substation and transmission line—the first privately invested transmission infrastructure in Vietnam.
  • Renewable Energy Complex in Ninh Thuan: Includes a series of Ninh Thuan Wind Power Plants (No. 1, 2, 3) and large-scale solar power projects, transforming a arid region into the country’s energy hub.

The extensive experience gained from the rapid execution of these projects serves as a strong assurance of execution capacity for Trungnam Group and Trungnam E&C in this Ca Na LNG megaproject.

Strategic Significance

Upon completion, the Ca Na LNG Project will play a pivotal role in:

  • Operationalizing Power Development Plan VIII (PDP VIII): Executing Decision No. 500/QD-TTg issued by the Prime Minister.
  • Ensuring Energy Security: Adding a crucial, stable baseload power source to the national grid, while significantly reducing emissions compared to traditional coal-fired power.
  • Driving Local Economic Growth: Creating economic momentum, generating employment opportunities, and making substantial contributions to the state budget throughout the project’s 50-year operational lifespan.
