Inauguration and commissioning of Trung Nam solar and wind power complex – Phase 1

Company news

Attendance included Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam; Former Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Kien; Chairman of the Committee for Science, Technology and Environment Phan Xuan Dung; Secretary of the Ninh Thuan Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Duc Thanh; Standing Deputy Secretary of Ninh Thuan Province Nguyen Bac Viet, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Ninh Thuan Provincial People’s Committee Luu Xuan Vinh and representatives of ministries, departments, branches, central agencies, institutes, schools, science and technology organizations.

Opening the inauguration ceremony, General Director of Trungnam Group, Mr. Nguyen Tam Tien presented an overview of the construction and operation process of the Solar and Wind Power complex project. In which, the total annual output of the Trung Nam Solar and Wind Power complex reaches 950 million kWh – 1 billion kWh of electricity per year, the first and largest renewable energy complex in Vietnam (as of May 2019). In which, the solar power plant has a capacity of 204 MW, maximum power output of about 450 million kWh/year.

The characteristic of the solar power field is the INVERTER equipment & solar radiation conversion technology provided by Siemens. The devices are designed to withstand temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius, without reducing conversion efficiency, nor being overloaded due to high temperatures.

Other devices and accessories deployed by Siemens achieve optimal size when they are more compact and lighter than other brands. Most importantly, the flexibility that the technology brings, with 18 semiconductors, the project can continue to connect more solar panels directly to the installed system and increase the exploitation output.

The wind turbine technology is “gearless” technology and automatically adjusts to catch the wind by ENERCON of Germany – the leading wind power equipment manufacturer in Europe. With this turbine technology, the wind turbines at Trung Nam wind farm can operate normally at a wind speed of 2.5 m/s and at that wind speed the turbines start up.

The Trung Nam renewable energy complex, including the Trung Nam wind farm and solar farm, is directly connected to the national grid through the 220 kV Thap Cham Transformer Station.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Luu Xuan Vinh, Chairman of Ninh Thuan Provincial People’s Committee, highly appreciated Trungnam Group’s investment in building a wind and solar power complex in the province. The operation of this project has contributed to making Ninh Thuan the leading country with 8 wind and solar power projects put into commercial operation.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said that the inauguration of Trungnam Group’s solar and wind power renewable energy complex is a very specific action, demonstrating the commitment of Vietnam in general, the commitment of Ninh Thuan, and investors in particular, in developing clean energy, protecting the environment, and sustainable development. In particular, the use of the most modern technologies in the world in these two projects is a vivid demonstration of the will to create, use, learn and master the Vietnamese workforce.

Also on this occasion, the People’s Committee of Ninh Thuan province awarded Certificates of Merit to individuals and groups in recognition of their outstanding achievements in the construction, installation and operation of the two largest wind and solar power complexes in the country.
