On the morning of November 18, 2025, Trungnam E&C and the joint contractors officially commenced the Rach Xuyen Tam project, located in the Binh Thanh – Go Vap area. The project will officially revive the canal, bringing a new green, clean, and beautiful appearance to Ho Chi Minh City.
Overview of Rach Xuyen Tam Project
Rach Xuyen Tam has a total length of 8.875 km, including a 6.638 km main route and three branch routes—Cau Son, Binh Loi, and Binh Trieu—with a combined length of 2.237 km. This canal plays a vital role in the city’s drainage system and environmental regulation.
For many years, Rach Xuyen Tam has been one of the most severely polluted areas. The commencement of this project marks an important step in efforts to dredge the canal, improve the environment, and build synchronized transport infrastructure along both sides of the canal, contributing to improved water flow, reduced flooding, and enhanced urban landscape.
Trungnam E&C is responsible for Package XL-01, with a length of 2.94 km and a total investment of over VND 1,160 billion: the section from Nhieu Loc – Thi Nghe Canal to Bui Dinh Tuy Bridge, including Cau Son Canal (from Km0+000 to Km2+512).
Dredging the canal bed, environmental improvement, and waste treatment;
Construction of the drainage system and roads along both sides of Rach Xuyen Tam;
Construction of embankments, technical infrastructure, and green landscaping.
The project implementation period is 950 days, with a commitment to ensuring schedule – quality – safety – efficiency. Upon completion, the canal will become a green – clean – beautiful space, integrating transportation and landscape to serve the community.
Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong, emphasized that the project is multi-purpose in nature, not only improving water quality and the drainage system, but also developing transportation, landscape, and urban technical infrastructure. The project contributes to improving the quality of life for city residents; in addition, he also requested that contractors make every effort to organize continuous construction to ensure the project progresses according to the approved schedule.
