Up to now, the total volume of the project has reached more than 72%. However, the construction of Tan Thuan and Phu Dinh culverts is more difficult than other culverts because of weak ground. Mr. Tien also committed to the city to complete the construction of the project by the end of the year, if the localities hand over the site on time by June 30.

At the meeting, representatives of localities and departments and branches reported on the project’s problems, especially the compensation and site clearance situation. Meanwhile, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Tran Vinh Tuyen said that if the construction site is not available on time, the localities will be responsible. In addition, the City People’s Committee and departments and branches are discussing and calculating to propose plans to operate the projects.

In addition, the City People’s Committee has worked with and BIDV Bank has basically agreed to extend the preferential loan period to disburse for the project. In the near future, the City People’s Committee will work with the State Bank. At the meeting, Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan once again spoke about the importance of the nearly 10,000 billion VND tidal flood prevention project because it is related to the lives of 6.5 million people. According to him, the spirit of the project is to accelerate and he highly appreciated the coordination of the units in the past time to resolve the problems of the project. He also asked units and localities to come up with solutions to quickly resolve compensation for site clearance.

Here, departments, branches, 4 districts, 2 counties reported the site clearance situation and committed to the city leaders to hand over on time by June 30, some localities are determined to hand over in May. Regarding the steel quality inspection, Secretary Nhan said that if it meets the standards, construction will continue as usual, but if not, other steel must be purchased to replace it.
